Mental Clarity, Physical and Emotional Wellbeing

I started working in the beauty industry in 2003, before studying at college from 2006 to add a range of complimentary/holistic therapies to my practice. Starting with Level 3 Diplomas in reflexology, Indian head massage and aromatherapy, I went on to undertake specialised training with Denise Tiran (an internationally-acclaimed authority on maternity complementary therapies) in the use of complimentary therapies for pregnancy and birth, before enrolling on a Foundation Degree in Complementary Approaches to Health; but the course didn’t run, so my career took a different path.

The years that followed were a whirlwind: forever on the road, some international travel, public speaking at trade shows and events, and teaching at some of the most prestigious salons and spas in the country, for market-leading international beauty brands... Juggling this and a chronic illness, plus life as a busy mum and business owner, did teach me a lot about the negative impact an overly-busy lifestyle has on our health. Chronic stress really is the new pandemic. While short-term, adaptive stress prepares the body for immediate challenges (fight-or-flight), chronic stress acts - in the words of some researchers - as a "toxic" agent that triggers prolonged, low-grade inflammation, oxidative stress, and structural damage across nearly all organ systems. A fibromyalgia diagnosis, hysterectomy and early menopause, plus debilitating neck injury, brought my focus back to personal wellness.

The study of holistic and complimentary therapies is a life long journey; a deeply personal, transformative path that focuses on treating the whole person - mind, body, and spirit - rather than just symptoms. My journey, as is so often the case, has been fuelled by a desire for self-healing; and has evolved through continuous education, self-awareness, and a commitment to helping others achieve balance.

Time For You

Twenty years on from my initial training, my therapies and energy work “toolkit” is constantly expanding. Adding modalities to my holistic therapy practice allows me to better address the physical, emotional, and spiritual dimensions of health and wellness, and to create more personalised treatment plans. Not everything I am trained in is listed below, but these are my most treasured and popular offerings. If you don’t know which treatment to book, don’t let that deter you, as I will be happy to advise you.

  • "A wonderfully relaxing experience - one I will be repeating."

    JC, Indian head massage client

  • "Gemma detected lower back and shoulder problems correctly from the first appointment and is very mindful of my comfort. I find the sessions very relaxing and enjoyable, often feeling less tired in the days that follow and as if a cloud has been lifted. She takes a genuine interest in my health, lifestyle and wellbeing. I look forward to my appointments and really feel they are doing me some good."

Female reflexology client, 49, seeking support through menopause, fibromyalgia and chronic pain

  • "Reflexology with Gemma has been very relaxing. I feel uplifted and much more balanced, emotionally. "

    Female client, age 18

  • "Have found course of treatments very interesting as to what Gemma has been able to ascertain about certain ailments. The relief that my shoulders don't ache so much is great. Have not had any symptoms of IBS since course started so certainly been worthwhile. Gemma has been very thorough and professional throughout."

    SP, reflexology client

  • "I am the worst client, a true skeptic, but I try everything and keep coming back. I have been to Gemma for reflexology, Indian head massage, aromatherapy and now Jikiden reiki and I can't explain what I have experienced. Truth is, I don't need to understand or make sense of it, I just need to accept that what she does works and makes me feel great. It doesn't matter how long it is since we last spoke, I can always contact Gemma and she welcomes me back like an old friend."

Repeat holistic therapies client of 20+ years

  • "Indian Head Massage with Gemma is really lovely - as she is! After a treatment I feel relaxed for the evening, then energised in the morning after a good night of deep, relaxing sleep. I will be trying other therapies with Gemma."

    EW, age 28

  • "I hate anyone touching my feet, but Gemma uses firm pressure and has been very professional during the course of six treatments. I couldn't stay awake for the sessions which she reassures me is a compliment! Sleep, stress levels and sciatica have all improved so I feel reflexology has been very beneficial to me and I hope to be able to continue with it in the future with Gemma."

    Male, 33, reflexology client

  • "I just want to THANK YOU AGAIN SO MUCH. You really do have an incredible gift. I'm blown away by it all."

Female, 49, dowsing, intuition and card reading message recipient.

  • "Gemma, I don't know what you did, but that is the best I've slept in flippin' ages..."

    RN, Jikiden Reiki client
